Due to the decreasing number of bats in the UK, all species are protected by law. The lawis extensive in relation to bats and is too detailed and complex to try and recreate in full here, suffice to say that you should not be making any attempts to capture a bat or even to disturb a bat or its roost. There are heavy penalties for anyone found guilty of a bat related crime, ranging from large fines to imprisonment.
